Fishbon Stitch – another stitch in my table cloth project…
Fishbone stitch is used as a filling stitch for leaves and flower petal patterns. This stitch is done by dividing the pattern into two parts, so its plaited center makes it perfect for leaf pattern.
Let us see the process,
I have drawn a line in the center to divide the pattern into two.
Step 1 : Make a straight stitch at the tip of the pattern.
Step 2 : After making the straight stitch , take the needle out through a point on the top of the line c.
Step 3 : Insert the needle at a point on line b , stitch should be slanting (the point on line b must be below the point on line c, see the fig).
Step 4 :Take the needle out through a point on line a,( which lies little above the point on line b).
Step 5 : Insert the needle at a point on line b, the point should be below the first point, on the line b.
continue the process till the end of the pattern.
Keep in mind : As we are proceeding down, every new needle points should be below its previous point on each line.
For understanding clearly the flow of stitch , I made it leaving space in between. While incorporating this stitch in your embroidery use single strand of thread and make stitch more close…
